cake making

So I've been thinking that I might make Graham's birthday cake. Graham has been sick the last few days, so I decided that I was going to try and make my first fondant cake. Disregard that it's only one color (I didn't see the point in making two colors since this was just a test) and that there are stars on top (that's just a cookie cutter that I already had). What do you think? The only thing is I had a hard time rubbing in all of the powered sugar...you can see a few white flecks here and there. Any idea how to completely smooth out the cake and make sure you don't see any of that sugar?

Baby No. 2

I've been slacking on my posts for the last few weeks! Things have been a little crazy because we're pregnant! Baby No. 2 should arrive sometime around Nov. 7th! That means that I'm 11 weeks 2 days! We went to the doctor again today and heard the baby's heart beat. It was 175...which is on the high side! Some people have said that high means girl, but I've got a feeling it's a boy. I could be wrong though because I was positive Graham was a girl...and he's definitely a boy! Jeff thinks it will be a girl. I did that Chinese Baby Calculator when I had Graham and it said boy. I did it again today, and it said girl. We should find out sometime in the middle of June.

updates

So it's been forever since I've blogged...sorry. The last few weeks have been crazy! We've started our new home group which is going so well! I really think we have a great group. I'm just eager to get to know everyone better! We have two pregnant girls due on the same day, so funny and crazy that it falls on the same day! (Lindsey and Kate...October 23rd) We're so excited for them both! We're doing a study on the book of James.

Other than that, we went to Arizona and Las Vegas for a week. We saw the Rangers at Spring Training. It was so much fun! We also went to the Arboretum a few weeks ago.

climber

At about 5 til 3 this morning, Jeff woke me up to tell me he thought he heard the pitter patter of little feet in the living room. This could mean only one thing....Graham climbed out of his crib for the first time last night. This really freaked me out because he could have easily hurt himself on the way down. I just want to know how he did it!?!? I bet he was so scared because all of the lights were off in the house and he probably wondered where we were. When we got up to get him, he didn't have any toys out except for one car...so he couldn't have been up long. So now comes the big question, is it time to move from the crib to his toddler bed? I don't know. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated! They do have the nets you can put over his crib...but I don't really like the sound of those much. I just don't want him to climb out tomorrow night and get hurt.

So it's hard not to post a picture of him...so here's one from the park I took last week.

poor baby

For the past few weeks, Graham has had a cold. He's had a runny nose, junk in his chest, and lots of coughing. All of the articles online says to see a doctor after two weeks with no improvement....so that's just what we did. Besides, he ran a little bit of a fever over the weekend. The doctor listened to his lungs and found that he had some fluid on his lungs. He couldn't tell if it was from a virus which turned into bronchitis or a cold with signs of asthma. Graham had to do a breathing treatment right there in the office, to see if his breathing improved. Man, it was hard to hold a mask on the face of a strong nineteen month old who did not want to sit like that for ten to fifteen minutes. After the treatment, the doctor checked his lungs again and decided that it helped. Now, we have to do breathing treatments every four hours for the next week (even in the middle of the night...which is hard on all of us). We go back to the doctor on Monday to check on his improvement. We're crossing our fingers that he didn't inherit his father's genes with the asthma. Yuck. On a side note, the doctor told me that there were some side effects of the medicine from the breathing treatment. He said that his heart will race, become honoree, and get hyper. Well that reigned to be true because before we even left the doctor's office Graham wondered off into the doctor's personal office while i was paying and then slapped me across the neck when I wouldn't give him exactly what he wanted. This might turn into a long week for all of us...but hopefully, he'll be back to normal in no time. I'm just so thankful we went to the doctor yesterday instead of today with the snow. Jeff and I can already tell that his breathing has improved because he's not hacking and hacking. Such a scary sound.

On a happy note, I am so proud of my hubby! At his company, they take the top 25 sales guys on a trip with a guest. Jeff made it! In May, we'll be headed to St. Martin in the Bahamas for an all expenses paid vacation!
